Labour is a democratic party – it says so in our constitution. Your vote is up to you; but if you’re thinking of voting for Reform, we’d ask you just to pause and consider:
- These are the people that brought you Brexit. In the name of patriotism, they have damaged our country’s economy. GDP is down 3-4%; exports are down 15%; the famous trade deal with USA turns out to be smoke on the horizon. This is why there’s not enough tax revenue for everything we’d all like.
- They lie to gain your trust. Farage recently used bogus figures about NHS to whip up antagonism towards people born abroad working here. Immigration is a net benefit to the nation, and enriches our culture.
- There are better ways to protest. Get involved in mainstream politics. Volunteer for community action or a charity.
- They don’t deliver. The only local council where Reform/UKIP took control, they were promptly booted out next time. This is because their programme is based on prejudice, not on fact.
- They are run by rich people, who want to dismantle public services, and their funding has been questioned. We can see what that is doing under Trump; and Putin just loves discord in the West.
